Passport photos... they said.

Passport photos... they said.

"Stand still."

"Look at the camera."

"Don't smile."

Simple enough, right?

Apparently not.

This week we all went to get our passport photos done.

Four children. (Rox is too big apparently now and does her ''own thing'' being 18 and all that lark!

One mum.

To be fair, everyone absolutely smashed it.

One after another.

Click.

Done.

Perfect.

Then it was Grayson's turn.

Now, if you know Grayson, you'll know that no matter how clearly something is explained...

There is always a Grayson version of events happening inside his own head.

I explained to him just as I had done with all the others. I was right there with him helping him hold his head in the correct position before the snap was taken .. it was pretty straight forwards or so I thought ...

"Stand here."

"Look straight ahead."

"Keep your chin up."

"Don't move."

Crystal clear.

To EVERYONE except Grayson.

A few moments later all of the photos were in my hands.

Three looked perfectly normal.

Mine looked... acceptable.

Then we got to Grayson's.

I actually laughed so hard I nearly cried.

Not one photo.

Not two.

Not even one where he'd accidentally blinked.

Every. Single. One.

The top half of his face.

Just...

👀

No chin.

No mouth.

Barely a nose.

Just two confused eyes peeking over the bottom of the frame like a meerkat wondering if the coast was clear.

How?!

How do you manage to completely disappear from four passport photos when everyone else understood the assignment?

The instructions weren't complicated.

They weren't in another language.

There wasn't a surprise test.

Yet somehow, Grayson found a way to create an entirely new passport photo category.

"Child attempts to hide from border control."

I looked at Grayson.

Grayson looked incredibly proud of himself.

Of course he did.

Because this is exactly who he is.

Life with him is never boring.

Never predictable.

And somehow, even the simplest jobs become stories we'll laugh about for years.

Needless to say...

We went back for another set of passport photos.

Although, if I'm honest...

I think these ones are probably worth framing instead.
